Spiced Baked Pears
Description
Pears balance vata and pitta doshas.
Ingredients
Toppings (optional)
Ayurvedic sweet spice blend*
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375 F. Line a baking pan with parchment paper; use a pan with just enough room for the pears.
-
Cut the pears in half and core out the seeds. Arrange them cut side up in the pan.
-
Brush with the lemon juice. Pour the maple syrup evenly over the pears, sprinkle with the spice blend, and drizzle the ghee and vanilla over the pear halves. Then flip the pears cut side down for baking.
-
Bake uncovered for about 20 minutes, until soft. Firm pears may need longer.
-
Flip the pears over, spoon the caramelized maple-vanilla-ghee sauce over them, and bake an additional 5 minutes uncovered until the edges are lightly browned.
-
Serve warm, topped with granola and coconut yogurt if desired.
Note
- *Sweet spice blend: mix the ingredients together. Add to oatmeal, yogurt, fruit or any dish you want to add a little sweetness to.
- For extra maple caramel to drizzle over the pears, see the Vegan Maple Caramel Sauce recipe card.
